There has been a report of people in Vernon County posing as representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to a news release from the Vernon County Office of Emergency Management.
They have tried to enter homes to evaluate damages and do not have proper identification carried by FEMA representatives, the news release reported.
If people present themselves as being from FEMA, ask to see their identification badges. Legitimate representatives of the agency have a picture IDs issued by FEMA.
If they do not have proper identification, do not let them into your home and call the nearest law enforcement agency. If a license plate number can be safely seen, write it down and report it.
