Volunteers needed to help clean flooded areas

The Volunteer Center of the Great Rivers United Way is recruiting disaster volunteers to help clean up from recent flooding.

A database will be created of individuals willing to help in times of disaster or emergency and needs will continue to arise as efforts focus on long-term recovery.

Vernon County Emergency Management needs help this weekend.

To volunteer, register at www.greatriversunitedway.org. Registered volunteers will receive an e-mail notification and/or a telephone call with specific volunteer needs.

For more information or help registering, contact Becky at (608) 796-1400 or bbarnes@greatriversunitedway.org.

Access to the Volunteer Center is available by dialing 211 or 1-800-362-8255.

Check the Web site for current needs in Houston, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau and Vernon counties.
