This past January, Norseland Nursing Home marked 25 Years since the facility opened its doors in 1975 and 15 years since Bethany St. Joseph took over as managers of the nursing home.
Times Editor Erik Berry announced this was the last issue of the paper he will serve as editor. The decision was spurred in part by the sale of The Times to Lee Enterprises and because he is returning to creative writing and songwriting. He will be moving to Decorah, Iowa.
Palmer "Duffy" and Martha Hoffland of Viroqua announce the engagement of their daughter, Jennifer Leigh to David Jon Noble, the son of the late Roger and Eileen Noble. An April 2000 wedding is being planned.
Students of the Week for January 18-21 are fifth-grader Mason Mueller, son of Darrell and Kay Mueller and seventh-grader Daniel Gerling, son of Joe and Lois Gerling.

The eyes of the ski jumping world will be focused on Westby this weekend as the Snowflake International Ski Jumping Tournament takes place on February 9 and 10. The Olympic sized 90 meter hill, located two miles north of Westby, will be the scene of competition between the national teams of Norway, Finland, Canada and the United States.
Shelly Larson has been selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Month for January. Shelly plans to attend Viterbo College for nursing and has just received the Dr. Scholl scholarship which is a four-years full time scholarship.
Bruce Stefferud of Stefferud Equipment received a Department of Defense Certificate of Appreciation from Det 1, 107th Maintenance Co. The award is part of a national program to recognize employers of Guardsmen and Reservists.
The following officers will serve for 1985 for the Chaseburg Rod and Gun Club: Chuck Oldenburg, president; Paul S. Gilbertson, vice president; Brian Snodgrass, treasurer; Lyle A. Anderson, secretary; Leon Erickson, director.

Four Westby students are among the 1,756 members of the class of 1960 of the University of Wisconsin who have their pictures in the senior section of the 1960 Badger annual yearbook. The students are Ardys H. Eklov, Kay E. Knutson, Donna M. Lovstad and Mary A. Perkins.
One of the first actions of the Vernon county board of supervisors after convening Tuesday morning was to approve and accept the new highway 35 through Vernon county as satisfactory as a part of the Great River Road.
Westby high school’s D.A.R. Award candidate is Gloria Flugstad, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Flugstad.
The Bekkedal tobacco warehouse opened on Monday morning with a crew of 90 women and 28 men. They expect 20 more men to be added in the near future.

Edward Preslik, Vernon county student at the Wisconsin college of agriculture, will help direct the "Little international," the annual student livestock show to be given before farmers and homemakers of Wisconsin at the Farm and Home Week program, Madison, February 6.
The W.C.P. Luther League will meet February 3 at 8:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served by Mr. and Mrs. Emil Sveen, Mrs. and Mrs. Albert Flugstad, Burton Flugstad, Kermit Flugstad and Alva Flugstad.
Keith Lucas, former jeweler here, was up from Viroqua Monday afternoon. He is now associated with his father in the jewelry business at Viroqua. Keith always finds a hearty welcome among his many Westby friends.
A Pocket Testament Movement Rally program will be given in the W.C.P. Church Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. Miss Knutson and Mrs. J.O. Holum will discuss the P.T.M. and Atty. D.M. Langve will speak on the subject, "Blessed is he that readeth." All P.T.M. Members are expected to attend. The public is cordially invited.
